Far from stemming from emotional conflict, this choice is often linked to  physical well-being ,  health  , and, above all,  sleep quality . After a certain age, the body begins to undergo changes that directly affect nighttime rest.  Insomnia ,  muscle or joint pain , frequent awakenings,  sleep apnea  , or the need to get up several times during the night become more common. In this scenario, sharing a bed can become a source of constant interruptions.

When one partner moves around too much, snores, sleeps on a different schedule, or needs specific conditions to rest, the other’s sleep is affected. Sleeping separately then emerges as a  practical solution , not as a sign of emotional distance.
